Who is Jarrid Lee
Originally from St.Paul A.B Jarrid Curtis Lee Poitras is an award winning singer/songwriter and Indigenous Canadian Country Music Artist who resides in Saskatoon.
What was life like growing up for Jarrid?
Growing up in a small farming town Jarrid got an early start into music through his dad Rollie Poitras with the band “County Express” listening and learning backstage at talent shows, weddings, beer fests, rodeos, and every other community event.
Where did Jarrid begin his musical journey?
With no shortage of musical influence surrounding him Jarrid’s family members had a guitar, piano, or fiddle within reach that were always tuned up and ready to play .
It was Dad who bought Jarrid his first electric guitar at the age of 12 and that’s when the endless hours of swollen fingers and self-teaching began. Although music was just a hobby Jarrid played with his friends in junior high and high school forming a band influenced by the rock bands of the 90s.
How did Jarrid get into Country Music?
There was always a love and affinity for country music for Jarrid finding himself drawn to the 90s & Y2K country he began emulating the sounds of artists like Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley and Dean Brody. 14 years ago Jarrid began writing songs as a way to deal with heartache, grief & loss, along with the impacts that shaped him into the person he is today and you can bet that those experiences like a good country song can write themselves.
Where did Jarrid really get his start into music?
Although Jarrid had not received any formal vocal training, music lessons, or guitar lessons he decided to share 1 original song for an annual showcase called Voices of the North in the winter of 2014 at the annual Prince Albert Winter Festival.
Jarrid received a phone call that he was chosen to perform at the Saskatchewan Showcase in February of 2015 where that experience sparked his love for the big stage.
What happened next?
Jarrid decided a relocation to Saskatoon was needed in order to pursue his love for music and was quickly recruited to join the Saskatchewan Country Music Association and SaskMusic. Jarrid won a spot to play the main stage at Craven’s Country Thunder Music Festival through a radio contest where he won the CKRM “Spirit of Saskatchewan” songwriters award for his song “Small Town.” With 2 albums completed and multiple nominations Jarrid has no signs of slowing down as he continues to write/produce, mentor, and learn how to become the best artist and person he can be.

In only 6 short years Jarrid has played at numerous venues and shows across Canada opening up for such names as Don Amero, Trooper, David Lee Murphy, Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin, Colin Raye, Jess Moskaluke, Mike Plume, Susan Aglukark, The Prairie States, Derek Miller, Brett Kissel, Midland … just to name a few.
What were some of your most memorable shows?
Luke Bryan at Cravens Country Thunder was a packed 14 thousand people easily with winds howling on the prairies and the stage swaying back and forth it was nerve racking but super fun. Also, Canadian Icon Tom Cochrane and Red Ryder put on an amazing show for Canada Day celebrations during the Nakota Strong Music Festival in Alexis First Nation. The best has to be opening for Country Music Legend Tanya Tucker not once but twice and that brought to life a song co-created with Jake Clayton and the sweet fiddle playing on the highest ranking song to date “Let’s Get Gone” which features a music video that you should go and watch RIGHT NOW.
What’s next for Jarrid Lee?
Jarrid continues to grow his fan base daily on all social media platforms sharing his stories of life, love, culture and adventure giving us a fly on the wall glimpse into this emerging stars personal journey. For a small-town boy he has big dreams of travelling the world, so Jarrid is currently working on a cross Canadian tour with another well established Canadian artist then export once other countries give him the call.
